Researching Downeast Maine and Maritime Canada Families Together

William Johnson, father of Oscar Johnson

I would like ANY information that can be found surrounding the birth of Oscar Hugh Johnson, son of William Johnson and Catherine McCready. He was supposedly born in Calais on March 16, 1892. He and William then disappear until Oscar shows up again in a WWI draft registration in 1917. Not sure if Catherine and William were even married. We can find no records pertaining to this threesome.

We have. There don't seem to be any records of his existence before 1917.

No, that was a different Oscar Johnson from what we can tell. His parent's names were Howard and Lizzie.

Was he the Oscar Johnson who had a sheep farm on the Robbinston Ridge Road in Robbinston?  I remember going with my grandparents to visit him in the 50s and 60s.  My grandparents probably bought vegetables from him, as they had a camp on the Robbinston end of Boyden Lake.  His birth date would be plausible for the Oscar I knew.  He made cradles for the sheeps' heads so they couldn't get through the fence.  I loved visiting him!  He had a long white beard.
