Late 1880s Autograph Book of Bertha Clements of Waldo Center, Maine

I've been featuring the autograph book of Bertha Clements of Waldo Center, Maine on my blog Heirlooms Reunited for several posts now.  Most of the signers were from the Waldo, Maine area, though there is one from Whiting, Iowa, and another from Pictou, Nova Scotia.  The genealogy has taken me in all directions, as you can imagine.

To see a list of the signers and images of most of the autograph pages, here is a link to the first blog post on Bertha Clements.  As I go through the book and research the individuals, I've made their names clickable.

Have not contacted Guy S. or looked at the Winslow family album yet. Just getting started. Planning to upgrade my Master Genealogist to version 8 which can apparently do automatic or semi-automatic searches of, etc. I would like an invite to the tree you mentioned.  Also how would I send you the gedcom file? I also have lots more pictures. What's the best way to send or post those.

What a wonderful picture of sisters!  Have you contacted member Guy S yet, in case you share ancestors?

Here is a picture of Ella and Ida Whitcomb at about the time they signed Bertha's autograph book. They must have been about 12 or 13 years old. Ella was my grandmother.

Neil, I found the info online on,, Rootsweb, etc., so some of the information could be in error.  If you have corrections, please let me know so I can amend.  I can give you an invite to the tree I made (it's free for invitees), so you can make corrections yourself, if you like.  Did you notice a new Belfast area autograph album of the Winslow family?  There may be some more of your ancestors in there.

Pam, I understand that you put up the scanned pages from the Clements autograph book, but who posted the information about my grandmother and grandfather (Ella Whitcomb and Frank Leslie Harmon) Since my father was an only child, I don't know who would have found her signature and then posted her genealogical information. I have a brother and sister who would be Ella and Frank's only other descendants. Same for Ida Whitcomb. Her only child was Ruth Howard who never married and died a few years ago. I'm assuming whoever posted the information is interested in my branch of the Whitcomb family and I would like to get in touch with them. Neil

Ella F. Whitcomb who signed Bertha's autograph book in 1890, when she was apparently 13 years old, was my Grandmother. Ida Whitcomb who signed the book in 1889 was Ella's sister.  I have pictures of them from about this time if anyone is interested. Neil Harmon
