Thank you for sharing! I guess my most important questions are : was Martin Hayman (b. 1735) from Sweden? And was the Hayman family considered Loyalist?
I have a small amount of info from the family in Oregon, if you need it. I have just started this branch of my wonderful tree!
My email is firstname.lastname@example.org. Looking forward to learning more!
I moved to Bridgewater, Connecticut in late 2016 after spending all my life living in Shoreline, Washington (a suburb of Seattle) and would like to correspond with any Blackwood relatives. I look forward to meeting my first cousins Linda, Roger and Susan for the first time.
I am a descendant of James (John) Blackwood. My father Walter Edward Blackwood was the son of Neil Cheswell Blackwood, son of Edward M. Blackwood, son of Jotham Sewell Blackwood, son of William Blackwood, son of James Blackwood. So it would appear that we are both related to James Blackwood.
By the way, my father (Walter) last visited Pembroke in September 1978 (after I purchased a Greyhound bus ticket for him on his birthday). Along with his brother Charles they visited with their uncles Harold and Robert (Bob) Blackwood. Their visit was noted in the Quoddy Tides newspaper on September 22, 1978.
My wife and I visited Pembroke last week (September 18-20, 2017). I find it ironic that it was 39 years to the day/week that my father last visited that I would visit for the first time. We spent (2) nights at Gretchen Gordon's Yellow Birch Farm on Young's Cove Road. We also stopped by Clarkside and Forest Hills cemeteries as well as the reversing falls and Ralph Mahar's house.
Ralph Mahar handled the estate of Robert Blackwood in June 1981 and I was attempting to find the exact location of Bob's house/camp near the reversing falls on Young's Cove Road. The property was acquired by Linda Bready at that time. The remaining proceeds of the estate were distributed among the (6) nieces and nephews including my father. I am still not sure exactly where this property is and who may currently owns it.
Did you attend the Blackwood reunion held at Gretchen Gordon's place approximately 20 years ago? Was it organized by Arlene Ackerman?
I also have access to ancestry.com and geneaologybank.com.
