Researching Downeast Maine and Maritime Canada Families Together
Philip Coombs (1833-1906) was the grandson of Philip Coombs (1770-1848) who brought his family to Bangor, Maine, about 1814. The Coombs family played a prominent role in Bangor history.
This Philip Coombs was born 5 August 1833 at Bangor, Maine, the son of Philip Henry Coombs (1803-1871) and Eliza Webster (Boardman) Coombs (1805-1873). His paternal grandparents were Philip Coombs (1770-1848) and wife Elizabeth (Harrod) Coombs. His maternal grandparents were Jonathan Boardman, Jr. and his wife Sarah (Horton) Boardman.
Philip Coombs (1833-1906) married Sarah Forbes Woodhull, who was born 14 January 1830, the daughter of Richard and Sarah (Forbes) Woodhull. Her paternal grandparents were Abraham Cooper Woodhull and wife Eunice (Sturges) Woodhull. Her maternal grandparents were William and Lucy (Griffin) Forbes.
Philip and Sarah had a son Philip Henry Coombs, born on 24 December 1856 at Bangor. Philip Henry Coombs (1856-) married Millie M. Field in 1883.
Below are a reprint of a post at the blog Heirlooms Reunited, which contains the image of a document made by one of men described above (with the exception of Philip Henry Coombs (1856-), who was not old enough to have produced it), and a family tree for Philip Henry Coombs (1856-), which shows some of the ancestry of his father Philip Coombs (1833-1906) and mother Sarah Forbes (Woodhull) Coombs (1830-).
