Researching Downeast Maine and Maritime Canada Families Together

James Henward, b. abt 1888 in Maine; m. Carrie M. Lee, b. abt 1890, Maine

James Henward was born about 1888 in Maine, the son of Horace and Seminah Henward of Nova Scotia.  I believe his paternal grandparents were Robert Nelson Henward and Lavinia (Greenough) Henward.  I don't have the maiden name or parents of Seminah.

On 30 September 1905 James Henward married Carrie M. Lee, who was born about 1890 in Maine.

James and Carrie had several children.  Among them were Alice and Dorothy, whose photographs are below in reprints of two posts at the blog Heirlooms.Reunited.  Also, please use the search box at the upper right of this site for the names Henward, Henwood, etc. to see other photographs of this family.

Real Photo Postcard of Henward Sisters, Eastport, Maine

Real Photo Postcard of Dorothy and Alice Henward, daughters of James and Carrie (Lee) Henward of Eastport, Maine.  This is the second photograph of Alice Henward I've found.  To see the first, here's a link to an earlier post on Alice Henward.

Dorothy was born about 1909, and Alice about 1914.  Alice married Donald L. Curtis in 1939.

James Henward was the son of Horace Henward, born in Nova Scotia and his wife Seminah.  The Henward name appears in several variations: Hennard, Henwood, etc.  I haven't yet found out the parents of Carrie M. Lee.

Note of 9/15/10:  I found another photograph of Alice, with her sister Dorothy, and wrote a post about that photograph on 9/15/10.  To see that photograph, click Henward Sisters

Real photo postcard of three year old Alice Henward, born about 1914, the daughter of James and Carrie M. (Lee) Henward of Eastport, Maine.  Alice was decked out in finery, perhaps for a wedding or Easter.
