Researching Downeast Maine and Maritime Canada Families Together
Isaac Sheldon was born 17 April 1869 in Knox, Maine, the son of William C. Sheldon and his wife Rosetta Smith. I don't the names of William C. Sheldon's parents. Rosetta Smith was born May 1847 in Knox, Maine, the daughter of Abner Ford Smith and his wife Mary C. Mixer.
Although I don't have the names of William C. Sheldon's parents, Sheldon was a name that cropped up in the Waldo area. One of the signers in the book was Ida May Whitcomb. She married Frank Edwin Howard, who was the son of Lewis Howard and wife Eliza (Sheldon) Howard. Below is a document found on a Sheldon family tree, thanks to a family researcher who uploaded it to ancestry.com:
Eliza may have been a cousin to William C. Sheldon.
Florence A. Stephenson was born in May of 1873 in Maine, the daughter of Zenas Stephenson and his wife Mary Estelle (Stevens) Stephenson. Her paternal grandparents were Jerome Stephenson and his wife Phoebe (Sanborn) Stephenson. Her maternal grandparents were Edward F. and Anna Jane Stevens.
Isaac signed the autograph book of Bertha Clements of Waldo Center, Maine, on January 16, 1887. Click here to read more about Isaac Sheldon and Bertha Clements's autograph book on the blog Heirlooms Reunited.
