I've had very little luck in researching the families of Henrietta
Boardman, born 21 October 1842 in Maine, and her husband Alfred
Shaw Luce, born 3 September 1842 in Maine.
I found a Henrietta Boardman in the 1850 Census of Frankfort,
Maine, with the head of household listed as Thomas, born about 1817
in New Hampshire. There was apparently no wife by that time. Also
in the household was a woman named Malinda Downs. In the 1860
Census of Swanville, Maine, I found a Henrietta Boardman living in
the Downs household. There are Censuses of 1860 and 1870 showing a
Henrietta Boardman working in a cotton factory in Biddeford, Maine.
I have no idea if this is the same Henrietta.
As for Albert Shaw Luce, I found an Albert Luce in the Census of
Troy, Maine, living in Amos and Charlotte Parker, old enough to be
his grandparents. I believe he was the Albert S. Shaw who lost a
leg in the Civil War. In the 1870 Census, he was practicing law in
Belfast, Maine. In 1871 he and Henrietta married. Sadly, he died a
year and a half later of consumption.
