Researching Downeast Maine and Maritime Canada Families Together
Alwilda Gertrude Warren was born about 1869 at Denmark, Maine, the daughter of Gilbert and Elvira Ann (Messer) Warren, born at Denmark, Maine, and Dracut, Massachusetts, respectively.
Her paternal grandparents were Isaac R. and Betsey (Quimby) Warren. I don't have the names of her maternal grandparents. I believe Elvira Ann (Messer) Warren had a brother named John A. Messer, a Civil War veteran who had enlisted from Dracut.
In Alwilda's 1880s Autograph Album is a page signed by a Herbert W. Messer of Winchester, Massachusetts. John A. Dresser lived at Winchester, Massachusetts and had a son named Herbert Warren Dresser.
Alwilda married a man named Libby and had a daughter Pearl L. Libby. Mr. Libby apparently died, and Alwilda married again on 16 November 1898 at Brunswick, Maine, to Fred Edward Ward. He was born about 1873 at Freeport, Maine, the son of Freeport natives Joseph O. and Emma Ward.
Several of Alwilda's siblings and relatives signed pages in her autograph album.
