Margaret B. Ayer was born in 1887 in Lincoln, Maine, the daughter of Horatio S. and Mary Roxanna (Ayer) Ayer.   Her grandparents were William R. Ayer; Rebecca M. C. Burnham; George Washington Ayer; Margaret B. Breck.

Margaret married Wilfred Irving Butterfield, who was born in Kingman in 1883, the son of Jerome and Adra Anna (Robinson) Butterfield.   Margaret and Wilfred had 3 children, Wilfred Irving, Jr., Jerome and Ruth.   

Wilfred Irving Butterfield was a Harvard educated lawyer, who practiced first at Kingman and subsequently at Bangor, Maine where he was a leading citizen.  See a separate discussion of  Wilfred Irving Butterfield on this site at:
